Hi, I'm Jariden, a Triceratops looking for some good bushes to feed upon. Think it's time to head toward Dragonfly Lake of Pangaea Ultima, where there's some shade, good green food along the shore, of course the lake to drink from, and perhaps some company. It's been rather lonely out here. None of my kind, or even any saurians at all, as far as I can see from my vantage point. Which isn't very high up. Sometimes I wish to be a Brachiosaurus because they can see for miles. Yet things generally are quite enjoyable out here, away from the strife I've seen elsewhere. Peace and quiet, viewing the scenery. It's so colorful! Beauty is what makes life worthwhile. Well, why not join me and see for yourself. --- Oh! There's what looks like some new faces in the distance ...

Dragonfly Lake was bustling with activity. Dozens of birds and small Theropods were darting around, on the hunt for lizards and insects. Sauropods munched on the tops of tall trees while Hadrosaurs drank from the edges of the lake. Braylin was enjoyed a sip of refreshing water when he looked up and saw Jariden approaching.
"Good morning, Jariden, how are you today?"

Ah, Dragonfly Lake is awesome! Just as I imagined it to be. Cool water and lots of green food. Enough to do, but not crazy busy. With all sorts of dinos here, I won't feel as alone as before. Think I'll wander over to the shore and grab a drink along side that Scelidosaurus.
"Better, now that I'm finally here. I've been through quite a journey through the lonely wilderness. Here it's delightful! We can go swimming or enjoy conversing with our friends. And I can carve drawings in the tree trunks with my nose horn. What do you like to do here?"

Braylin thought for a moment.
"I like swimming in the cool water and spending time with my friends."

Jariden: "You know that's a fine idea. I've been walking the dusty trails all day so a swim would feel quite delightful. Care to join me?"

"I'd love to."
As Braylin trotted into the water, there was a rustle in the trees and the horned face of a Carnotaurus appeared.
Hi, Jariden. Hi, Braylin. Have either of you seen Cadence?

[Jariden doesn't trot, he kind of waddles. The water's clear and refreshing. But who's that coming? It doesn't look good to him...]
Jariden: Uh, gasp... No, I haven't seen Cadence. Have you, Braylin?
[Jariden thinks to himself, "I hope she's not hungry" and begins to tremble, making ripples in the water]

Braylin shakes his head.
"Sorry, Alestra, we haven't seen her."
Alestra looks over at Jariden.
"No need to look so scared, Jariden. I don't bite unless I'm hungry, and if I'm hungry, you'll know about it."

Jariden: "Sorry Alestra, it's a herbivore thing. I can't help but get anxious. I guess I should learn to feel differently with friends, though. Hey, you know what -- Do you see that tree stump over there? I can carve a portrait of you from that stump, if you wish to sit for it. How about it?"

Alestra nodded and positioned herself near the tree stump.
"This will keep us busy until Cadence gets here. Oh, and Jariden, I can understand you get a bit nervous around me sometimes, but I promise I mean you no harm. I guess it's just a normal thing for you herbivores to be scared of us predators."

"Yes I'm afraid a herbivore's life is filled with fear, at least for me. We never know where or when we'll end up as some carnivore's lunch. Do you feel the same way, Braylin?" ... "And Alestra, I'm honored to sculpt your imposing likeness." Once Alestra was ready, Jariden began working out her sculpture. Using his horns he commenced carving chunks of soft wood from the stump, roughing out Alestra's general shape. Jariden chose to render Alestra rather more vertically, much like the way T. rex is sometimes portrayed. He hoped this would allow for larger, clearer features. Alternating his gaze between subject and object, Jariden continued making comparisons and adjustments -- instinctively performing what art books teach. About halfway through the project, he paused to rest his aching neck muscles. "Phew, this sure is heavy work," he muttered. "So, what do you two think of it so far?"

Braylin's head popped up from the water.
"Looking good."
Bracken and Cadence arrive.
"Hi, everybody!"
"It's about time you got here! We were starting to think you'd got lost!"
Alestra gestured toward Jariden's half-made sculpture.
"Check this out. Jariden's carving a statue of me out of a tree stump."

"Hi, Bracken and Cadence. How was your journey?
Thanks for the compliments. I should be finished soon."

"To be honest, the walk was rather boring. The only funny thing to happen was Cadence getting pooped on by a passing Pterosaur."
Looking over at Bracken, Cadence let out an audible growl.
"What's so funny about me being pooped on by a Pterosaur?!"

Jariden tries very hard not to snicker. "Hey Bracken, keep the laughter down or you'll make me ruin my sculpting."
"You know, I'm big and slow which means I'm quite the target. I've been pooped on more than I care to remember -- even by sauropods. Pterosaurs, though, are the worst! So take your choice -- fermented leaves or putrefied fish. Poop happens. It's good we're near a lake where you can refresh yourselves from your long journey."
By now the sculpture has taken on a fairly close likeness of Alestra. Jariden slowly ambles around it, examining its details and poking here and there with the finishing touches.
