Wolfram|Alpha is called a "computational knowledge engine" because instead of searching Internet sites as search engines do, it scans its internal knowledge base which allows it to neatly organize the results. For example, type Tyrannosaurus Triceratops and you'll get a table comparing key statistics for the two dinos. It has many other uses which you'll find by experimenting with it.
